Summary:The detector surface (2) which the X-rays strike after passing through the object (3) to be investigated is dimensioned so that it collects the fan-shaped X-ray beam emitted by the X-ray source (1) completely. The thickness of the fan-shaped beam is matched to the thickness of the disc-shaped layer of the object (3) to be investigated, a tomogram being produced in each case of said layer. During the irradiation, the object (3) is rotated with respect to the X-ray source (1) and the detector surface (2), in particular about an axis which extends perpendicularly to the plane of the fan of rays and is located on one of the two diverging side edges of the fan of rays. During the irradiation, the object is then rotated through 360 DEG C. The device makes it possible to use a comparatively small detector surface, which has various advantages, such as comparatively cheap construction, low radiation dosage and high resolution.
