Summary:The present invention is relates to the room temperature stabilization of the probiotic species L. casei through vitrification of dehydrated sugar systems in the presence of phosphate salts and polymer. The VFD L. casei being a probiotic bacterium is having many therapeutic effects along with the health benefits that it reduces antibiotic associated diarrhea, inhibits enteropathogens (E. coli, S. aureus) and reduces lactose intolerance.
