Summary:A green ceramic shape is formed by electrophoretic deposition on to a mandrel from a slurry of finely divided ceramic material in a carrier liquid. The mandrel is supported in the slurry and an electric field is applied to deposit material from the slurry on to the mandrel. The weight of the mandrel and any material deposited thereon is continuously monitored and the deposition terminated when the weight reaches a threshold. The green ceramic shape is then removed.
