Summary:Quality electrodes, used to form electrical contact with the skin, are unnecessarily complex. Simpler, cheaper and more convenient electrode constructions are described. One system, whose applications include being the electrode for a garment, comprises just two layers; a dispersive layer with apertures and a gel layer with the multiple functions: creating electrical contact with skin, adhering the electrode to the garment and ensuring good electrical contact is made with the electronics, (by way of example only) through bringing into close contact studs on the garment which are wired to the electronics and the dispersive layer.
