Summary:Liqd. with solid particles is distributed and passed upwards in a settling space with a velocity below the settling velocity of the solids. Pref. the liq. is allowed to 'rest' in a space with a free liq. surface, before it is admitted to the settling space. The equipment comprises, settling tank and above it a stilling trough with a liq. discharge pipe which is routed to a plate valve at the bottom of the settling tank. The pipe is provided with a spiral sludge mixing elements. The plate valve is fitted with spiral guide elements.
