Summary:A cutting mechanism is intended to be mounted at the front of an automotive agricultural machine and to operate to keep wheel tracks of the machine free. A respective guide wall (14) is disposed in the region of each intended track and a respective pair of severing knives (15) is arranged behind a knife beam (2) and in front of each guide wall. A respective toothed cutting disc (19), which is fastened to a tine reel (5), engages between the knives (15) of each pair. The severing knives (15) bear against the disc (19) and one of the knives (15) has an extension forming a separating wall (22). Cylindrical shell segments 17 with conveying flights 21 of opposite sense are arranged at the reel (5) on either side of each disc (19).
