Summary: | Energy saving processings by combined extraction and distillation of spent furfural mix, while condensing the vapour phase reaction mix heats the solvent recovering column and is further cooled to 25-35 deg.C in a heat exchanger then passed into an extractor for the removal by alkyl-acetate of organic materials to be preheated in the heat exchanger and fed to the solvent regenerating column. - An aq. azeotrope is removed at the head for the sepn. and regeneration of the extractant. Water free components of the starting mix are collected at the foot of the regenerating column to be sepd. by rectification. By supplying alkyl-alcohols to the boiling-off section of the regenerating column, the carboxylic acid portion of the extract can be esterified for the replenishment of extracting solvent loss. - Process is also suitable for the processing of Lutter-water, provided energy is supplied by an external heat source to the regenerating column and the heat exchanger. |
