Summary: | Prods. usable as additives in the food industry or as food protein are obtd. by suspending the yeast-biomass starting material in several times its wt. of water at a temp. below 30 deg.C., sepg. the yeast after stirring, repeating the process several times and finally inactivating the yeast enzymes. - If prods. with reduced ribonucleic-acid content are desired, the washed yeast-biomass suspension is stirred with 0.2-0.5 molar NaOH soln. at 15-35 deg.C, neutralised with hydrochloric acid and washed with water. Finally, the treated yeast-biomass is dried. |
