Summary:The invention relates to a method and device for detecting particles, in particular metallic particles in glass, in particular in flat glass panes, in which the glass is transilluminated in at least one region by means of a laser beam that is absorbed less by the glass than by particles present in the glass, and hereby, among particles present in the transilluminated region, heating of at least the respective particle occurs, in particular greater heating occurs of glass surroundings near to a particular compared to glass surroundings remote from a particle, and this heating is detected, in particular in spatially resolved manner, by means of at least one detector system, and the position of the respective particle in the glass is determined on the basis of the detected heating.
