Summary:The method is applicable to organic and/or inorganic liquids, preferably propane-butane mixtures which contains impurities, possibly with unpleasant odors. The liquid to be purified is passed through one, or two absorbent beds (these would be connected in series) until the impurity which is least absorbed breaks through. At that point the liquid stream is changed over to a regenerated bed and the exhausted bed is regenerated. Natural and/or synthetic zeolite is used in the absorbent beds, with at most a one twentieth part of special absorbent material. Before regeneration the liquid hydrocarbon is displaced from the absorbent bed by an inert gas at a higher pressure than the vapour pressure of the hydrocarbon. The adsorbent bed is rinsed, while being quickly heated up, by inert gas, for 10-120, preferably 20-80 minutes. Equipment is proposed, comprising absorbent beds, with suitable heating and a regenerating system. The number of absorbent beds is one or two. Hydrocarbon liquid is supplied by a pump. The regenerating system is complete with cooler, condensate separator, vacuum pump and suitable valves. The absorbent beds (27) contain natural and/or synthetic zeolite, with a maximum of one twentieth by mass of a special absorbent material.
