Summary:The subject of the invention is an installation for continuous casting of thin metallic products by solidification of the molten metal on the chilled lateral surfaces of two parallel horizontal cylinders (rolls) in rotation in opposite directions, in which the casting space is closed off laterally by side dams (small faces) each comprising an insert penetrating into the inter-cylinder (inter-roll) space, characterised in that it comprises films (membranes) 6, 6' of a consumable or deformable material which permanently provides a functional join between the lateral faces 5, 5' of the inserts and the ends 4, 4' of the opposing cylinders (rolls).
