Summary:The method of manufacturing a cigarette involves forming a tobacco rod by placing 2-up tobacco plugs an 2-up hollow plugs ina spaced alternating relationship. The rod is severed between two of the tobacco plugs. 2-up filter plugs are positioned between the tobacco rods. Tipping paper is then wrapped around the plug and tobacco portions. Tobacco web and overwrap are wrapped by directing a ribbon of tobacco mat and a ribbon of overwrap together about a succession of tobacco rods. The overwrap is wrapped around the tobacco mat. An anchoring bead of adhesive is applied along the web.
