The present invention provides a connection system and method for a power socket, and discloses a base unit for connecting electrical equipment or components to a network or an assembleable switch oroutlet system. The system provides for connecting electrical equipment to a network or base unit through a sliding connector; the sliding connector engages with a non-deflectable holding surface of the electrical equipment or component. The holding surface can be defined by recesses or protrusions. This system allows electrical equipment to be connected and disconnected faster or more conveniently. The present invention also discloses various embodiments of sliding connectors capable of connecting or disconnecting multiple devices or components using a single sliding action of a user.
