[Also in Divisions B5 and E2] A bearing member is made of polytetrafluoroethylene fibre cloth 1, which may contain a minor proportion of cotton, linen, flax, jute, polyamide, glass or asbestos to modify the frictional characteristic or act to increase the adhesion to a thermoplastic backing 2 of nylon, polypropylene, polycarbonate, polyacetal, polyethylene, polyamide or polyurethane which is injection moulded around the fabric in situ, or within a separate matrix, to penetrate the fibre interstices. The bearing member may be a plain or flanged bush or a combined journal and thrust washer, Fig. 9, or a hollow, frusto conical, combined thrust and journal bearing, Fig. 11. |
