Summary: | 4,41- Methenylbis-pyrazolones-5 are prepared by reacting 1 mol of a 5-pyrazolone with less than 1 mol of a dialkyl formamide, an alkyl-aryl-formamide or N-formyl-piperidine, and less than 1 mol of phosphorus oxychloride, thionyl chloride or phosgene. The pyrazolone may have a 1-phenyl substituent which itself may be substituted with a methyl, methoxy, nitro, sulpho, sulphonamido or chloro group. The 3-position of the pyrazolone may have a methyl, n-propyl, isopropyl. n-hexyl, dodecyl, heptadecyl, benzyl, phenyl, carbomethoxy or carbethoxy substituent. U.S.A.
