Summary:907,344. Nuclear fuel elements. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. Nov. 17, 1960 [Nov. 18, 1959], No. 39579/60. Class 39 (4). [Also in Group XXV] Fuel elements 2 are held in a coolant tube 1 in a nuclear reactor by rings 3, each of which is fastened to the fuel element below it by a key 4 fixed to the end of the element, the keys and their housings in the rings being shaped so that a key can be inserted in a ring only by rotation about a point O 2 not on the axis of the fuel element, as shown in Fig. 3. Consequently, when the fuel element and attached ring are in a coolant tube unlocking of the key 4 is not possible. The rings are held in place by crimping the coolant tubes into grooves 11 in the rings. The fuel element shown has six L-jacketted fuel rods attached by fins to a central fuel rod.
