Summary: | 831,943. Cathode-ray tubes. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. May 3, 1956 [May 3, 1955], No. 12840/55. Class 39(1). An electron discharge device such as a television camera tube comprises an electron gun 3, 4 adapted to project a beam on to a non- secondary emissive target 2, means 6, 7 for deflecting the beam over the target, a first lens 5 adapted to focus the beam at a point C beyond the target, and a second lens 8 with its principal focus at the effective centre of deflection E, the relation v = u#/u + f being satisfied whereby the beam is focused on the target and impinges substantially normally thereon. The first lens may be magnetic or electrostatic the second lens being preferably an iron shrouded coil having a diameter more than twice that of the scanned area to reduce pin-cushion distortion. The deflecting means may be electrostatic or magnetic. |
