Summary:An apparatus for treating a conduit 2 has magnetic field producing coils (e.g., provided in 5a) and a mechanism for releasable attachment of the coils to the conduit. The attachment mechanism can have a first 5a and second 5b part which magnetically attract each other. If the first part 5a contains the coils, the second part 5b may contain e.g., an iron bar. The coils may surround a permanent magnet and a controller may supply current to the coils. The coils may comprise shellac-coated copper wire. The current to the coils may be intermittent and/or be varied in e.g., wave form, amperage, frequency. The magnetic field produced may extend inside the conduit. The magnetic field may inhibit bacteria in a beer line, thus reducing spoilage. Also disclosed are a system and method.
