Summary:A downhole electrical disconnect tool (EDT) 700 comprises a female receptacle sub and a male sub. The female sub comprises a receptacle housing 422B having a bore therethrough, female electrical connector 430 positioned along the receptacle housing, and a metallic receptacle connector band 200 including a first coated section overlaid with electrically insulating material and a second uncoated section, the receptacle connector band being electrically contacted with the female electrical connector. The male sub comprises a male housing 402 having a bore therethrough, a male electrical connector 420 positioned along the male housing and a metallic male connector band 300 including a first coated section overlaid with electrically insulating material and a second uncoated section, the male connector band being electrically contacted with the male electrical connector. The first coated sections of the receptacle and male connector bands contact one another. A first port is positioned along the male housing in communication with a first channel within the male housing, and a second port is positioned along the receptacle housing in communication with a second channel within the receptacle housing. The channels are each provided with a respective floating piston (702,710, figures 7A and 7C).
