Summary:There is provided a method of monitoring a dry-bulk stockpile, the method comprising: receiving first image data collected by a satellite in orbit around the earth. The first image data corresponds to a synthetic aperture radar image of a first area that includes the dry-bulk stockpile then receiving a second image data collected by a satellite in orbit also corresponding to a synthetic aperture radar image of a second area that includes the dry-bulk stockpile. It is then determined whether the first and second image data were collected by one or two satellites on different orbits around the Earth or by one or two satellites on the same orbit around the Earth. If the first and second image data were collected by two satellites on different orbits, the method further comprises applying radargrammetric analysis to the first and second image data to determine one or more properties of the dry-bulk stockpile based on the radargrammetric analysis. If the first and second image data were collected by one or two satellites on the same orbit around the Earth, the method additionally applies interferometric analysis to the first and second image data to determine one or more properties of the dry-bulk stockpile.
