Summary:There is disclosed a method and system for authorizing payment for a transaction between a buyer 104 and a seller 102. A payment instrument is tapped on a first or seller device 102, and the seller device sends an account number to a sever 20. The server determines if there is a second or buyer device ID 104 associated with the PAN. If there is, the seller device requests the location of the buyer device using the identifier, if there is no association, the seller device obtains a buyer device ID via a user interface and requests the location of the buyer device which is then sent the server. The server determines whether the location is within a threshold distance close enough distance to tap a payment on the seller device, and if so, the server generates a transaction request.
