The road vehicle comprises a vehicle body and a plurality of wheels FL, FR, RL, RR. The control system 2 comprises a one or more controllers 406, 408, 410, 412. The control system 2 is configured to: receive information indicative of a requirement for positive or negative vehicle acceleration in a first lateral axis; and control the active suspension 402 to reduce an angle of the vehicle body relative to a second longitudinal axis perpendicular to the first axis in dependence on receiving the indication, and wherein the angle is roll.
