Summary:A thermally insulated transportation container, for transporting temperature sensitive goods, comprising a body having an outer shell 7, an opening member (preferably a lid), at least partially transparent liner 9, and thermal insulation panels 35, 37 some of which are vacuum insulation panels (VIPs) 11. Preferably, the thermal insulation panels are foam covered and the liner has a flange that overhangs the side walls. Preferably, there is a harness for lifting the container and/or a harness for securing the lid. Preferably the shell walls include channels to receive harness straps and the straps are secured by fasteners. The harness may include lifting handles in a recess. The container may include phase change material (PCM) units 10 that include formations 10a/10b that allow them to be mounted together to make a hollow structure that does not collapse in transit. Preferably, the lid includes an inner and outer shells 29 and 27 with cavities 31 and 33, defined by a steps 29a and 29b. The internal and ambient temperatures may be monitored. The container may have seals to inhibit the ingress of moisture.
