Summary:A driving mechanism with a linear clamp (100, Fig. 3) to drive a rotatable ring (212, Fig. 4) of a lens 210 on a camera 200. The mechanism has a base 110 including a driving unit 120 with a driven wheel 122 and a slave unit 130 with an idler wheel 132 wherein the units are on opposite sides of the lens. The base of the mechanism further includes a clamping unit (140, Fig. 3) to drive the driving and slave units at the same time to lean against the rotatable ring of the lens at different directions. The idler wheel is driven by the rotatable ring when actuated by the driven wheel of the driving unit. The base may include a holding piece (310, Fig. 5) and a sliding piece (320, Fig. 5), each piece including a guiding and/or a sliding portion. The holding piece may include an installation surface (312, Fig. 5) with a lens hole (314, Fig. 5). The driving unit may include a connecting piece (410 & 510, Fig. 5) to move synchronously with the clamping and slave units via a motor (430, Fig. 5), a timing belt and additional idler wheels (520, Fig. 5).
