Summary:An electric motor 100 assembly to supply torque, the assembly comprising one or more rotor assemblies 150, each rotor assembly having a hub 155 and magnets 160 arranged along an outer periphery of the hub, the magnets each having magnetic north and south poles. A main shaft supplies torque, where at least one of the rotor assemblies is configured to rotate the main shaft. Stator modules 130 are provided having circumferentially arranged stator module core structures with stator windings 134, 139 configured to receive high-voltage, alternating current. Each winding comprises a conductive wire wrapped in multiple loops around one of the circumferentially arranged stator module core structures such that an opening formed by the multiple loops is aligned along a radial direction toward the main shaft. The stator windings on the stator modules are arranged with at least two independent sets of stator windings comprising a first independent set of windings 134 and a second independent set of windings 139; and the first windings are positioned on a first portion of the stator module and the second windings are positioned on a second portion of the stator module, where the first portion is spaced from and separated from the second portion to provide electrical isolation and resist magnetic coupling between the first the second windings.
