The bed area system includes dividing assemblies 1 having parallel panels between which are layered riverbed modules 2 include pipe networks 23 with assemblies 22, and solidified silts 3 in which plants grow. The bank area system include a riparian greening area 4 with plants and a rainwater collection area 5, with pipes connecting the bank area system to the pipes beneath the solidified silts in the bed area system. The bed area may contain a water permeable layer 24 comprising sponge and ceramsite, and a lower matrix layer 21 comprising a geotextile, ceramsite and volcanic ash.
