Summary:An asset identification system includes a tool (200) having an axial dimension (204) and a radial dimension (206). There are three RFID devices (202) located on the tool (200), and the three RFID devices (202) are located at equal angles with respect to each other in the radial dimension (206). The system further includes a storage apparatus (100) configured to store the tool (200), and an RFID reader (104). At least one of the three RFID devices (202) located on the tool (200) is readable by the RFID reader (104) regardless of the radial orientation of the tool (200) with respect to the RFID reader (104).
