Summary:A method and system comprising the steps of obtaining sensor data associated with an autonomous vehicle; determining if the sensor data satisfies one or more criteria; and if so, determining a violation parameter indicative of a policy violation of the autonomous vehicle; and providing a response indicative of an escalation of the policy violation. The criteria may comprise a criterion based on a time threshold, or a threshold associated with a number of passengers. The response indicative of the escalation of the policy violation may comprise communicating the response to a passenger, which may comprise an alarm or warning in the vehicle or transmitting a notification to a user device of a passenger. The response may also comprise adjusting a speed, acceleration, and/or a trajectory of the autonomous vehicle.
