Summary:Wound treatment apparatus for treating a wound with reduced pressure has superabsorbent material 501 that is glued in position at one or multiple discrete regions or target areas 503 within an absorbent layer 502, the target areas being positioned to allow an air flow path 504 within the absorbent layer, between or around the superabsorbent material in the target areas, when the superabsorbent materials are wet. The plurality of target areas of superabsorbent material can be arranged in various patterns including a spaced pattern and/or a regularly repeating pattern, such as a grid. A backing layer is provided over the absorbent layer and comprises an orifice.
