Summary: | Welding 141 a thermoplastic lid 110 to a peripheral flange 105 of a thermoplastic capsule containing an ingredient; and using the heat and pressure of the welding head to form a recess 145 in the flange into which the lid seals. Ideally the recess is an annular groove on a circular flange. The heat can be 200-250 degrees Celsius applied for 0.3-1.5 seconds. The flange and lid can have unsealed tabs to allow peeling. The channel can be generally circular with a deviation at the tab to focus peeling so that only 20-50N are required. The capsule can also have an annular wall 112 defining a manifold chamber and a central tubular wall defining an outlet. The lid can be concentrically sealed to both of these. The sealing head can include an annular projection to form the channel. |
