Summary:Magnetoencephalography (MEG) apparatus comprising a helmet 40 configured to fit on a variety of head shapes and sizes. The helmet has a plurality of openings 42 placed at predetermined locations which are adapted to receive a MEG field sensor such that the sensor can be moved towards and away from the head that is wearing the helmet. The sensors may be Optically Pumped Magnetometers (OPMs). The sensors may be mounted and moveable within a housing which can be attached and detached from the openings in the helmet. The sensor and/or the opening in which it is received and/or the housing in which it is mounted may be provided with indicia to show the position of the sensor relative to the head. There may be apertures which form an open lattice structure on the helmet surrounding the openings for the sensors. The sensors may move in a spiral path towards and away from the head. The helmet may also include a fixture 44 to fix the position of the helmet on the head.
