Summary:An augmented reality (AR) system 101, and associated method of use thereof, comprises the provision of (i) an AR headset 3 comprising a near eye display (4a,4b, Fig 2), (ii) at least one sensor 20 for tracking the location of the patient, (iii) a memory and (iv) a processor 12. The system is configured to continuously throughout a medical procedure (a) receive measurements collected from the patient's tissue 28 via a probe (22, Fig 3), (b) track and determine the probe's position during collection of the measurements, and (c) simultaneously with (a) and (b), track, using the at least one sensor, a position of a biological landmark 30 on the patient such that a relationship can be determined between it and the position at which the measurements are collected. The measurements at a given position are displayed on the near eye display such that they are aligned in the surgeon's view of the patient's tissue with the position at which they were collected and are updated based on the determined contemporaneous location of the biological landmark.
