Summary:A cover 212, such as for a vehicle seat or trim component, comprising a 3D knitted structure formed from heat activated and non-heat activated yarns knitted together. The structure has integral channels 216Fa-c formed of continuous loops of knitted material; and a vehicle component, such as a cable or wire, can be inserted into ends of the channels 216Fa-c and held within the channels 216Fa-c. A method (500, Fig. 9) of fabricating a cover that can be used for an interior or exterior trim component of a vehicle comprises forming (510, Fig. 9) a 3D knitted structure by knitting together heat-activated and non-heat activated yarns. The 3D knitted structure comprises a integrally formed channels, comprising a loop of knitted material, with an end through which a vehicle component, such as a cable or wire, can be inserted and subsequently retained in the channel.
