Summary:A wearable device housing an optical sensor and attached to a strap 100, 200, which includes a strap body 110, 210 knitted, preferably three-dimensionally machine-knitted, from at least a first main yarn and a heat activated reinforcing yarn, with at least one reinforcement zone in which the flexibility of the reinforcing yarn has been altered through application of heat for varied stiffness and rigidity across different sections of the strap. The reinforcing yarn is preferably a fusible yarn e.g., thermoplastic, with a melting point below that of the first main yarn. The reinforcement zone may comprise compression or fusion of the reinforcing yarn into the first main yarn. The strap body may include a buckle 150, eyelets 234, and a knit with a second main yarn providing a different layer to that of the first main yarn. A method for manufacturing the strap is also included.
