Summary:A lance injector assembly 240 comprises a shaft 241 that extends into an exhaust conduit of an aftertreatment system 100, the shaft being hollow to define a cavity 247. A supply line 242 disposed within the cavity receives a liquid reductant and has an outlet fluidly coupled to an opening 256 in the shaft. A heating element 246 in the cavity selectively heats the liquid reductant flowing through the supply line to generate gaseous reductant to be expelled from the outlet of the supply line. An aftertreatment system includes a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalyst 110 downstream of a dosing module (114, fig 1) comprising the lance injector assembly. A method of inserting a reductant into an aftertreatment system comprises activating the heating element in response to determining that there is a demand for reductant and that a temperature of exhaust gas is less than or equal to a threshold.
