Summary:A nano-emulsion composition for skin care comprising: an oil, preferably selected from hydrocarbons, fatty esters, fatty carbonates, triglycerides, C15-C19 alkanes, umdecanes and tridecane, capric triglyceride, coco caprylate or coco caprate, dicoprylyl carbonate, cetyl ricinoleate, or isomyl cocoate; a hydrophilic compound, preferably selected from glycerol, levulinic acid, sorbic acid (or the potassium or sodium salts thereof), phytols, polyp[henols, plant extracts, biopolysaccharides, sugars, and emulsifiers; a water soluble phytoactive compound, preferably selected from extracts of Glycyrrhizia galba, mango fruit, Maris alba root, poppy seedm Centella Asiatic leaf, or a forsythoside from a plant extract; an oil soluble phytoactive compound, preferably selected from a phytol derived from a plant extract, boswellin, and NG shea unsaponifiable; and a first and second polyglycerol fatty acid ester in a ratio 70:30 to 40:60 (preferably 50:50 or 60:40) as emulsifiers wherein the first and second polyglycerol fatty acid esters are represented by C12G10 and C18:1G10 respectively (G represents the mean polymerisation degree). The composition may additionally comprise preservatives selected from sodium levulinate, potassium sorbate, and anisic acid. Also disclosed is a skin care or cosmetic composition comprising the nano-emulsion.
