Summary:Apparatus for determining a presence or (change in) concentration of an analyte in an environment. Two sensors 6,7 respond to the analyte. A valve assembly 8 has a first A and second B configuration. In the first A, the analyte reaches only the first sensor. In the second B, the analyte reaches both sensors. Different flow path configurations (Figs. 3-5) are disclosed. Specifically, the flow from the inlet 5 can be split in two wherein, in one branch, the analyte is filtered out (11) and, in the other, the analyte is not filtered out (10). The second sensor 7 may be flushed to aid desorption of analyte between sampling to counteract drift and increase its accuracy. The continuous measurement from the first sensor 6 may be corrected on the basis of the intermittent, more accurate, results from the second sensor 7 (Fig. 8).
