Summary: | An imaging system includes a plurality of conductive electrodes 21, each supported on a conductive substrate 20. A signal generator 22 and signal detector are each connected to at least two electrodes 21. An impedance compensator 23 applies a corrective impedance, such as a negative capacitance or resistance, to counter parasitic impedance C between each electrode 21 and its substrate 20. The system may be for capacitive-resistive imaging (CRI) of an underground downhole environment or geological formation (61, fig 6). The substrates 20 may be metal well pipes (62, 62', fig 6). The signal generator 22 may work at DC or near DC frequencies. |
