Summary:A diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) filter (102, fig 4) of a header assembly (50, fig 4) in a fluid reservoir (38, fig 2) has a base filter 104. The header assembly has a header 86 with a cylindrical header boss (90, fig 6) having first and second mounting recesses (200, fig 6; 206, fig 7) in a boss outer surface. The base filter includes first and second semi-cylindrical holder portions (120, 122) each having a semi-cylindrical wall 126, 136 concluding at abutment surfaces 130, 132, 140, 142 that face and engage when the base filter is assembled. The semi-cylindrical holder portions each have a mounting tab 180, 186 extending inward from inner surfaces of the semi-cylindrical walls. The mounting tabs are circumferentially spaced about the semi-cylindrical walls to align with and be inserted into the mounting recesses of the header boss when the base filter is assembled on the cylindrical header boss.
