Summary:Provided is a vehicle chassis system 1 comprising front 3 and rear 5 axle boxes joined by a central portion 7. The top surface 11 of the central portion 7 forms a floor of the vehicle, and this surface 11 can be adjusted between a configuration in which it is level with the top surfaces 13, 15 of the axle boxes 3, 5; and a configuration in which it is at a different height to the top surfaces 13, 15 of the axle boxes 3, 5. Also provided is a vehicle comprising this chassis system 1; and a method of assembling this chassis system 1, comprising selecting either the first or second configuration, and arranging the axle boxes 3, 5 and central portion 7 accordingly. The central portion 7 may be a removable battery that provides power for vehicle systems.
