Summary:A method for manufacturing a test dummy based on a torso model is disclosed. The method may include manufacturing the torso of the dummy (figure 7) to be based on the torso model. Alternatively, the method may include manufacturing a jacket (96, figure 8) to be fitted to a standard dummy, wherein the jacket is of varying thickness representing the torso model. The torso model is generated by a computer based on parameters corresponding to a desired torso volume. The parameters are derived by dividing a 3D scan of a torso into a plurality of cross-sections (figure 4A-H), calculating an area for each cross-section, and fitting an elliptical curve (84, figure 5A) defined by the parameters to each cross-section.
