Summary:Method performed by a social network server system 28 comprising receiving a social media message 14 to be posted at the social network server system, the message authored by a user, and prior to posting the message determining, based at least in part on applying one or more rules to content of the message a likelihood that the user would modify the content of the message after it is posted, wherein the one or more rules are generated based at least in part on previous actions taken by the user on previous messages authored by the user and posted at the social network server system, and generating an alert message 20 responsive to determining that the likelihood exceeds a threshold. The modifying may involve deleting the message after it has been posted. The rules may be generated based on previous messages authored by the user that were posted and later modified. The likelihood may be based on textual content, contextual information or an intended audience of the message. Also provided are a social network server system and non-transitory computer readable medium.
