Summary: | A mechanism 1 for operating a circuit breaker having an operating rod for moving contacts 17,18 between open and closed positions comprises a freewheel mechanism having a driveshaft 2 and a driven shaft 6 arranged rotatably in a frame 5, a spring 11 coupling the driveshaft to the frame, a locking means for locking the driven shaft in place, and a cam wheel 6 comprising at least two cam lobes 8 for actuating the operating rod. The spring may comprise a torsional spring arranged with one end 13 to the frame and the other end 12 to the driveshaft. The freewheel mechanism may be ratcheting. The trailing edge of each cam lobe may extend radially relative to the cam wheel. The operating rod may comprise at least two linked rods 20,21 having a single degree of freedom, with one free end of the rods linked to the frame and the other free end linked to one of the contacts. The cam wheel may engage the linked rods in a perpendicular direction to their length. |
