Summary:The hydroponic system 100 comprises a grow tray assembly 110, the grow tray assembly includes a removable upper tray including a first plurality of apertures, a lower tray including a second plurality of apertures, and a porous layer disposed between the removable upper layer and the lower tray; a plurality of support legs 120, 122; a fluid table 130 disposed underneath the lower tray; a fluid reservoir 140 disposed underneath the fluid table; a fluid pump (500, figure 5A) in fluid communication with the fluid reservoir; a fluid riser 150 in fluid communication with the fluid pump and the fluid table. The fluid reservoir may be a flexible and collapsible when not filled with a nutrient fluid. The support legs may be configured to fold substantially flat beneath the grow tray assembly. The apertures of the upper tray may comprise sloping tessellated edges configured to guide seeds onto the porous layer. A method for utilising a hydroponic system is also provided.
