Antenna array
An antenna array having a first aperture-coupled antenna (2502a) that radiates a polarised electromagnetic wave (em) and a second aperture-coupled antenna (2501b) that radiates orthogonally polarised em waves wherein each antenna incorporates a feedline (fig 26). The antenna array may include a firs...

Summary: | An antenna array having a first aperture-coupled antenna (2502a) that radiates a polarised electromagnetic wave (em) and a second aperture-coupled antenna (2501b) that radiates orthogonally polarised em waves wherein each antenna incorporates a feedline (fig 26). The antenna array may include a first sub-array (2501a-d) and at least a second orthogonal sub-array (2502a, 2501b, 2502c-d) wherein the two sub-arrays share at least one common antenna element (2501b). No conductive physical connection may exist between the antenna feedlines. The antenna array may be used in a WiFi access point and be employed as a spatial location system ; they may be connected to the transmit and receive channel of a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) transceiver wherein the antenna array is capable of varying the pointing angle of at least two antenna lobes independently without the need to move either the antenna array or its constituent parts physically and wherein the at least two antenna lobes are arranged such that they may partially intersect at one or more pointing angles under electronic control. |
