More Information
Summary:A chromatographic stationary phase material, and a preparation method, for normal phase chromatography, HPLC etc. represented by the formula: [X](W)a(Q)b(T)c wherein X is a chromatographic core with a surface comprising a silica core, metal oxide core, an inorganic-organic hybrid or a group of block copolymers, W is absent, hydrogen or hydroxyl on the surface of X, Q is a functional group that minimises retention variation over time under low water concentration conditions, T comprises one or more hydrophilic, polar, ionisable or charged functional groups that react with the analyte. X includes a silica core, c = 0, and Q has a combined surface coverage ≥ 2.5 µmol/m2 or X includes a non-silica core, or a silica-organic hybrid core c = 0, and Q has a combined surface coverage ≥ 0.5 micro mol/m2. The core surface can be subject to alkoxylation by a mobile phase and can comprise superficially porous material. Preferably Q is a diol and the stationary phase exhibits a retention drift of ≤ 5% over 30 days. The stationary phase material can be a plurality of particles or a monolith with a chromatographically enhancing pore geometry. A column and a kit for chromatography are also disclosed.
