Summary:A door assembly for a vehicle 30 includes a door 38, an inflator 46 mounted to the door, and a passive restraint 28. The restraint has first and second airbag chambers 42, 44 in communication with the inflator, wherein the first airbag chamber extends transverse to the second airbag chamber when inflated. When uninflated, the airbags may be disposed in a bezel adjacent a window opening within the door panel, and covered by a trim panel. It is preferred that the airbag chambers are independently inflatable, and the inflator is duel-chambered. Another independent claim details a door assembly comprising an inflator, first and second airbag chambers, and a controller (74, Fig.8) programmed to independently inflate the airbags depending on a detected direction of vehicle impact. A further independent claim describes a vehicle comprising a rotatable front seat 32, a rear seat 36, a rear door with a mounted inflator, and first and second airbag chambers in communication with the inflator.
