Summary:A diffuser comprises a baffle (16, fig. 8) having an air inlet end 12, an air outlet end 18 and an outwardly tapering wall 20. The baffle 16 defines an air chamber 22. A grille 40 comprises a plurality of air outlets 42, 44 connected to the baffle 16. The air inlet end of the baffle 16 includes an air inlet 12 and a drainage channel 150, spaced from the air inlet 12, for receiving water which has entered the air chamber 22 through the air outlets 42, 44. The drainage channel 150 has drainage holes 152 for draining water away from the air inlet 12. Preferably, the drainage channel 150 is annular and surrounds the air inlet 12. A second drainage channel 154 may be provided for draining away moisture incident on a frustoconical projection 36. The drainage channels and holes help to prevent moisture in the diffuser from entering the hairdryer through the hot air outlet.
