Summary:A fabric antenna 10 comprises an electrically insulating host yarn or thread 30 and an electrically conducting antenna yarn 40 that are knitted together to form a host fabric 50 comprising an antenna grid formed of the antenna yarn. The antenna grid comprises a plurality of intersecting antenna tracks formed of the antenna yarn that are electrically coupled at the points of intersection and separated by areas of the host yarn. The garment may include an antenna ground formed of electrically conducting ground yarn. The antenna grid (see figure 1) may comprise a plurality of grid sections which may be adjacent to each other, each having a central track. The item of clothing may further comprise a pocket, which may be on the interior of the garment, for supporting a communications cable which is used for connecting the fabric antenna to a device.
