Summary:An apparatus 200 that features an interface unit, configured to receive commands from a remote location. A self-propelled cleaning unit 205 facilitates the cleaning of portions of a streamer 104 being towed in water behind a survey vessel 105 in response to the received commands. The apparatus 200 attaches the self-propelled cleaning unit 205 to the streamer 104 and releases the self-propelled cleaning unit 205. Optionally, the apparatus 200 can reattach the self-propelled cleaning unit 205 and remove the self-propelled cleaning unit 205 from the streamer 104. Optionally, the apparatus enables cleaning of the streamer 104 using the cleaning unit 205 coupled to the apparatus 200 and can propel the cleaning unit along the streamer 104. Optionally, the interface unit is coupled to a cable 110 and receives the commands via the cable from a remotely located control unit (115, Fig. 2).
